Bahamas Agricultural and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI)
The Institute offers teaching and training to provide the professional and technical qualifications necessary for various branches of agriculture and marine resources and to provide strong academic training and extensive hands-on orientation in crop and livestock production, farm management, environment conservation, agri-business and management of marine resources.

Bahamas Agriculture and Industrial Corporation (BAIC)
The BAIC was established by an act of Parliament in 1981 and supersedes the Bahamas Development
Corporation, whose real and personal property have been vested in it. It‘s scope is
board and covers agriculture, fisheries, forestry, agri-business and water conservation. Its
functions are to:
a) Stimulate, encourage and facilitate the development of agriculture in The Bahamas;
b) Process the produce of agriculture in The Bahamas;
c) Market the produce of agriculture within or outside The Bahamas;
d) Carry out, operate and participate in any agriculture project as the Minister may
approve;
e) Assist in the operation and development of commerce and industry within The
Bahamas; and
f) Expand and create opportunities for Bahamians to participate in the economic development
of The Bahamas.

Department of Environmental Health Service (DEHS)
The Ministry of the Environment and the Depart- ment of Environmental Health Services encour-ages the planting of native trees and the use of compost material to replenish and nature our soil. We also encourage residents to start backyard gardens and to keep your yards Clean Green and Pristine!
FUNCTIONS OF D.E.H.S. :
1. Investigate problems and institute preventative and remedial measures in areas that cause envi- ronmental pollution, such as the management and disposal of solid, liquid and gaseous waste, drinks and food manufacturing, rodents, insects and gen- eral sanitation.
2. Conduct research, studies and monitoring pro- grams related to the matters described in # 1
3. Gather, collate, analyze, publish and disseminate information relevant to the Act.
4. Promote the planning approval, funding and im- plementation of measures designed to ensure the safe use of the environment.
5. Provide ways and means for the training of per- sons involved in environmental services
6. Understand and carry out related services mandatory and investigate and prepare the necessary reports, plans and programs.
7. Maintain and operate the necessary laboratory, analytical and inspecting facilities 8. Provide advice in the field of environmental health and other supportive services to government and non–government agencies
